Melanie A. Iverson Kaufman
Melanie Iverson Kaufman was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. After graduating from high school, she interned in the office of the late Senator Ted Stevens in Washington, D.C. Melanie obtained her bachelor’s degree in political science from the New College of Florida in Sarasota. Along the way she enjoyed a semester abroad in South Australia.
Melanie obtained her law degree from the Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Oregon. During law school, she was an Executive Editor of the Willamette Law Review and focused her studies on estate planning and related topics, including participating in an estate planning clinic. She also clerked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Oregon, in Portland, Oregon.
Melanie brings her enthusiasm and experience in estate planning, probate, and trust administration to her work and strives to ensure her clients understand the nuances of their estate planning decisions and their duties as fiduciaries. She is a member and past President of the Anchorage Estate Planning Council and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Alaska Chamber Singers. Melanie regularly gives presentations on estate planning and administration for local organizations, including Stone Soup Group, the Alaska Bar Association, Great Land Trust, and the Alaska Society of CPAs. Melanie has also participated in pro bono activities to provide access to estate planning and probate guidance.
Melanie enjoys skiing, maintaining her lifelong practice of ballet, and spending time with her husband and two children.
